1. ATM machines only give you money on $20 increments.
Why: I guess banks must want to limit it only to 20 dollar bills
2. When drivers don't use their turning signals
Why: because they didn't learn how to drive properly
3. Devices that use an uneven amount of batteries, for instance an alarm clock that uses 3 AA batteries.
Why: when they make these devices they don't think about the customers having to buy multiple packs of batteries in the long run.
4. Kids toys packing that uses way too much plastic
Why: toy companies try to make toys as appealing as possible to kids, so they make the packaging extremely intricate.
5. Too often assembly instructions for furniture are extremely complicated or very vague.
Why: once again the company is not thinking about what is comfortable for the customer.
6. General Education requirements to get a college degree.
Why: the state has ridiculous education standards...it makes no sense for a business major to have to take a science class if they don't want to or need it for their career.
7. When at fast food restaurants they pay more attention to the drive thru than to the customers inside the restaurant.
Why: bad managing. It doesn't happen every time but the managers at a lot of places don't properly guide their employees.
8. At peak busy times during the day (i.e. 3 p.m.) it is unbelievably hard to get on a bus before it gets full, and then sometimes one is forced to wait for the next one.
Why: RTS doesn't schedule their drivers properly.
9. When at some stores they ask for your phone number at the register
Why: this is specially applicable to big chain stores, because they try to gain more information about their customers.
10. When at Publix they always ask if I want to donate money.
Why: I understand Publix is trying to do good things for the community, but to have it going on all the time is a bit too much.
11. When you leave your home for an extended period of time and come back to mold in some areas of your house.
Why: because some landlord don't check their properties properly.
12. When its too cold outside and my scooter wont start.
Why: because my scooter is exposed to extreme weather outside and then the motor wont heat up.
13. When your car fogs up and its impossible to get it to clear up.
Why: car manufactures need to get their stuff together on this one.
14. When I'm on my scooter at a light and the light wont change cause the sensor can't tell I'm there.
Why: because when they build those sensors into the road they don't think of people on motorcycles or scooters.
15. When the bicycle rack on the bus is full.
Why: theres only spot for two bikes on the bus, so if the rack is full you have to wait for the next one.
16. When you have to sit way too close to the screen at a movie theater.
Why: because they have the screen way too close to the seats, so if its a packed house the people at the front leave with a stiff neck.
17. Black Friday shopping
Why: this doesn't really need an explanation.
18. When they don't have something you want at a restaurant.
Why: maybe due to poor planning in the kitchen
19. When milk goes bad way before the expiration date.
Why: They should specify how long it will last once you open the bottle.
20. When they decide it is a good idea to fix roads during rush hour.
Why: it happens way more often than you'd think and it is probably due to the fact that they just don't care about creating unbearable traffic.
Coming up with this list was incredibly difficult. Definitely something that should be done over the course of a few days because our brain isn't really wired to think this way. At least personally, it was very challenging.
Nice post Gabriel! I understand how you feel about the complexity of these issues when you have to think of them quickly in order to finish an assignment. I realized a lot about you and your character with the things that bug you on a daily basis. I also have a scooter, and I know the struggles of getting through lights and cold starting. A few suggestions...get a heavy magnet and place it on your scooter, this will help change lights. Sounds insane but it does work. Also, kick start the scooter when it is cold and that will get it running faster. As you pointed out, there are many things that do not make sense with how companies do business, although there must be an underlying reason. Please check out my bug list at http://soulstosteal.blogspot.com/2016/01/bug-list-week-2.html and realize that my problems are the same in many instances as yours. Have a great week.

We have very similar bugs. The scooter one is particularly annoying to me. The lights should be able to recognize when a scooter is sitting there. I feel like for a lot of these bugs there are a lot of ways to solve them in simple ways. I liked your list though, it made me laugh.
ReplyDeleteHey Gabriel! I forgot to leave my blog link so here it is! http://biglilcut.blogspot.com/2016/01/bug-list.html
