My Entrepreneurship Story

So I could not think of an instance where I observed or took part in the development of a business or organization, but I do have plenty of experience seeing how my uncle runs his business. He is an entrepreneur at heart, and with the help of a loan he created "Tents N' Events." His company does a wide variety of services for events. Although their primary focus is to put up tents for different kinds of events, they also provide tables, chairs, and a big money maker for him are the pool covers. Now, many people don't know what those are, but it is quite simply a cover for a pool. How they work is that they use either wood or plexi glass to create a platform above the pool. The purpose of this is to create more space in people's backyard for dancing, eating, or whatever the event requires. In a nutshell, that is basically what Tents N' Events is all about. As you can imagine these jobs can be very costly depending on the size but since they're located in Ft. Lauderdale they benefit from being so close to Miami and, quite honestly, a bunch of rich people. Ultimately, I can say that I have been inspired by the success my uncle has had and he is one of the reasons why I chose to pick up a minor in entrepreneurship, which is also why I'm in this class. I really hope that this class can continue to ignite that feeling of wanting to do something bigger than myself. That in all honesty is what I hope to get out of it, because in all reality we can't truly learn how to be entrepreneurs in a classroom. Which brings me back to another thought, which is that so far this class has been quite intriguing and thought provoking. I really couldn't have imagined it going so well.

Below is a picture of a job I did over winter break in Ft. Lauderdale. I chose this cause in this pic you can see a plexi glass pool cover and a tent.

  1. Shout out to uncles, I just read another blog that had an entrepreneurial uncle like yours! Never knew that people cover their pools up for more space, that's creativity right there. I believe one of the best ways to learn is to experience it. You’re doing the right thing buddy. I hope you build an entrepreneurial mindset and look for problems you can solve. Best of luck!
