Week 12 Reading Reflection

Kuratko Chapter 13 (Strategic Entrepreneurial Growth)

This week's reading was problably the most "bleh" out of all of them, sincerely, all of it seemed like common sense. However, I was a bit surprised at all the examples the author cited when talking about what could go wrong without strategic planning. It was probably the most entertaining aspect of the reading.

As I mentioned before, this chapter sounded a lot like common sense blabber. So it really wasnt confusing at all, but if I could ask the author two questions they would be as follows:

1. So many people fail with their start ups, when all hope seems lost, what would you say is the best method to pick yourself back up? and has this happened to you?

2. How do you properly measure you start up's success at different stages? SWOT analysis seems vague, is there anything that you have personally experienced that could be of use?

Although this chapter was alot of common sense, I think the author tried to hard to give us the "correct" answer. I think one of the most valuable lessons to teach an aspiring entrepreneur is that there's many ways to be successful and although some things are easily applied everywhere, some are not so easily applied in every situation.
